Hey y’all! My name is Hunter Carr and I am a Senior at Mayfield High School in Region 1. I am involved in various clubs including Beta Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and, of course, Educators Rising. I have been involved in Educators Rising for four years now, and I have been an officer for two. After high school, I plan to attend Murray State University and earn a degree in Social Studies Education for the high school level. Then, I plan to go back to MSU and take classes to become an administrator. I am so excited to serve Educators Rising Kentucky as the 2025-2026 State President!
Lily Russell, President Elect
Hi, I am Lily Russell and I’m 16 years old with a big passion for teaching! I attend Ignite Institute and love being involved in Educators Rising. My favorite subjects are English and history, and I hope to become a high school English teacher in the future! I’ve gained a lot of experience working with kids through my job as a swim coach at Silverlake Family Place, as well as babysitting and providing childcare for local churches. These experiences have helped me build leadership, patience, and communication skills. Things I know will be important in the classroom. I’m excited to keep learning and growing as an educator so I can make a real difference for my future students!
Nia Serikali, Director of Outreach and Service
Hi! My name is Atiba Serikali but everyone calls me Nia! I’m in the Class of 2028 at Central High Magnet Career Academy in the Teaching and Learning magnet. I am a part of Girl Scouts, Central’s cheer, karate, BSU, Whitney Young Scholars and, of course, Educators Rising. I also love to write poetry and placed 2nd in Children Literature Pre- K! I’ve been passionate about education since I was in elementary and hope to teach 2nd grade in the future. I’m excited to serve as the 2025–2026 State Director of Outreach & Service for Educators Rising Kentucky! And remember we’re not teachers of tomorrow or the future; we are teachers of today!
