School: Pembroke Elementary School, Christian County
Grade/Subject:: Kindergarten
Years of Experience: 13

From a very young age, I knew that I wanted to be a teacher. Many of the individuals that admired growing up were the wonderful teachers that I had in the Kentucky Public School System. I knew that I wanted to have an impact on someone’s life the way my teachers had made on mine. I enjoy being able to give back to others and teaching has allowed me to do that in so many ways, but what I didn’t realize prior to becoming a teacher was how much I would get back in return from my wonderful students and exceptional colleagues. There is no other career I would choose over being an educator, I am the person I am today because of the wonderful experiences that I have had in the classroom over the last 13 years.

Without any question, my students are my favorite thing about being a teacher. They are the ones that inspire and encourage me day in and day out. I am never far from the thought that without enthusiastic and motivated learners, my job would not have a purpose. I am so proud of each and every one of the students that I have taught throughout my career and consider myself very lucky and blessed that I had the opportunity to be their teacher.

When I am not teaching, you can find me spending time with my family. My husband Joe and I have a nine-year old son named Aiden that keeps us on the go with all of his sports and activities. I love watching University of Kentucky sports, reading, playing with our family dog Ulis, and crafting.

If I could have one superpower it would be telepathy. I would love to be able to know what people are thinking.
