I wanted a job where I could first hand inspire children to reach for their dreams and invest in them the way other adults had invested in me as I was growing up. Teaching gives me the opportunity daily to not only fill their minds with knowledge but their hearts with love and compassion.
My favorite thing about teaching is the kids. I love seeing their faces light up when they learn something new for the first time. I live for the giggles that fill the room because learning should be fun. I love sitting down and really digging deep into the data about my kids and finding that specific and prescriptive way to reach them. However, my ultimate favorite part of teaching is sitting at their high school and college graduations and watching my former 1st graders walk into their future knowing I played a small part in that journey.
When I am not teaching I love spending time on the trails with my husband and 3 children We love to hike and explore the beautiful world around us. I also love photography so combining the two are one of my favorite things to do.
If I could have a superpower I think that it would be the ability to turn back time. It wouldn’t be so much to change anything but to relive the moments that made us who we are. To really be fully aware of how important those moments that seemed ordinary at the time were, to relish that last hug with a loved one, to feel the pride as you walked across that stage for your diploma, to see your husbands face for the first time as you walked down the aisle. To know that even when you felt like you had nothing going for you that better times were coming.
