Where do you teach? Henry County High School (Henry County)

What subject(s) and/or grade(s) do you teach? Dual Credit Education courses through Midway University, English I, II, III, and IV

How long have you been teaching? 12 years

Why did you become a teacher? Because it’s so important to invest in people, and teaching gives you the perfect opportunity to do so during a time in their lives where kids need people to be their biggest support and biggest cheerleader.

What has been the best part of teaching that you didn’t expect when entering the profession? A schedule that allows me to invest in my own family, too, and not miss a single ball game, family get together, holiday, or weekend.

What is one thing you wish non-teachers knew about what you do? Teaching is a creative profession. Good teachers are more than a delivery system of information, good teachers are able to ignite curiosity which leads to learning. While testing is important and has its place, a good teacher knows the biggest role of a teacher is about the process of learning.

What do you consider your greatest accomplishment as a teacher? Creating a curriculum that had my students engaged, excited, asking questions, and taking initiative to learn about on their own.

What is your favorite thing to do when you aren’t teaching? Chase around my three boys.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go? Germany, maybe? Hawaii? Greece? I don’t think I can pick just one place!
