How long have you been teaching? 4 years
Why did you become a teacher? To become the change I want to see in the world. At a young age I realized none of my teachers looked like me. It wasn’t until 8th grade that I had a black male teacher. He inspired and motivated me and I want to have the same impact on my students.
What has been the best part of teaching that you didn’t expect when entering the profession? The lasting relationships and the growth I see in my students from the beginning of the school year to the end.
What is one thing you wish non-teachers knew about what you do? It is far more work than can be seen from an inexperienced perspective. Summer breaks do not mean we stop working.
What do you consider your greatest accomplishment as a teacher? Completing my first year during the height of COVID. It made me enhance my teaching strategies to reach students who were not even in the room.
What is your favorite thing to do when you aren’t teaching? Watching my favorite anime, going on walks and hikes, and spending time with my girlfriend.
