Kassity Boor Where do you teach? Todd County Middle SchoolWhat subject(s)/grade(s) do you teach? 6th Grade ScienceHow many years have you taught? 5Why did you become a teacher? I became a teacher to show children their potential, grow their love of learning, and to support them in the classroom, on the field, and in the community. Being a teacher, to me, is much more than just delivering content. It is inspiring inquiry, exploration, discovery, and a lifelong love of learning in the students that pass through my classroom. What has been the best part of teaching that you didn’t expect when entering the profession? The best part of teaching is having students from previous years come back to visit and tell you the impact you made on them in their time in your classroom. What is one thing you wish non-teachers knew about what you do? Working directly with children in an educational setting is the most rewarding career path that I could have taken. Being a direct resource for these kids can allow me to shape their lives in such a positive way. What do you consider your greatest accomplishment as a teacher? Showing my students that they can be humans, make mistakes, be wrong, and still be successful. Teaching them to own their mistakes and change their thinking/behavior based on those is a powerful tool with middle schoolers.Favorite thing to do when you aren’t teaching? When I’m not teaching you can find me on the sidelines of most sports fields photographing current or former students, downtown or in the studio taking Senior Portraits, or on weekends photographing brides & grooms on the most special day of their lives! If you could have a superpower, what would it be? If I could have one superpower, it would be to always feel well-rested regardless of how much or little sleep I get.
