Where do you teach? Georgetown Middle School

What subject(s)/grade(s) do you teach? 6th, 7th, & 8th CTE

How many years have you taught? 11

Why did you become a teacher? To be honest, I kept taking career tests and teaching came up in all three that I took. So as a college admissions counselor, I thought I would look into it. After I did my research I began thinking I would become a teacher then go into school counseling and help students. But after I got in the classroom, I then realized I enjoyed teaching and stayed in the teaching lane thinking I could have just as much impact.

What has been the best part of teaching that you didn’t expect when entering the profession? There are two things that I found that I didn’t initially expect which are to grow such a bond with so many students and find out how impactful your teaching, counsel and mentorship can be to students. As well as how interactive my job is.

What is one thing you wish non-teachers knew about what you do? Teaching America’s youth is so much more than standing in a classroom and delivering a lesson. It is planting seeds of curriculum, character education, and logical wisdom every day for every moment in a school.

What do you consider your greatest accomplishment as a teacher? My greatest accomplishment is and always will be my relationship with my students and colleagues.

Favorite thing to do when you aren’t teaching? My favorite thing to do when I’m not teaching is coaching and playing volleyball. I also enjoy being with family and friends because I just enjoy laughing and having a good time with them.

If you could have a superpower, what would it be? If I could have a superpower it would be to heal any sickness, body ailment or deformity for anybody.
