I became a teacher because of the amazing teachers I had in my life and because of the lessons they taught me. I was taught how to be strong, to be who I am, and to challenge the status quo. I teach because kids deserve a teacher who is in their corner and won’t give up- no matter how big the proverbial mountain we have to climb might be.
My favorite thing about being a teacher would have to be the relationships we are able to build with students. Nothing brings me more joy than the smiles on my students’ faces after they complete a challenging task, when they tell me a joke, or just say hi. Receiving a message from a student I’ve had in the past to let me know how they are is a huge reward! I will always value these relationships.
When I’m not teaching, I love spending time with my family, traveling, and taking time to enjoy nature.
If I could have a superpower, it would be a healing touch. I want everyone to be able to be healthy and to enjoy their lives.
