Where do you teach? Rockfield Elementary School (Warren County)

What subject(s) and/or grade(s) do you teach? Kindergarten

How long have you been teaching? 5 years

Why did you become a teacher? I love working with kids, and there’s something incredibly rewarding about teaching them to read. Witnessing their growth and progress from the first day of the school year to the end is such a joy for me.

What has been the best part of teaching that you didn’t expect when entering the profession? I have loved the classroom “family” I have been able to create through the relationships we build, each year. In the past 5 years, I have been teaching, each class has loved and supported each other so well.

What is one thing you wish non-teachers knew about what you do? I wish non-teachers knew how much planning goes into each week and how often we assess our kids.

What do you consider your greatest accomplishment as a teacher? Not only teaching students to read, but teaching them the social skills they will need now and later in life to be successful.

What is your favorite thing to do when you aren’t teaching? I love to be with my family and friends and read!

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go? I would love to travel to Italy.
