I became a teacher because I wanted to make a difference. The teachers I had growing up made a huge impact on my life, and I knew I wanted to do the same. As a teacher, I have the opportunity to directly impact our future, because I believe the future is sitting in my classroom today. I teach Economics, and every topic we discuss directly affects my students’ daily lives. Being able to make those connections and explain the reasoning behind all of the things they’re hearing about on TikTok and in the news makes it very easy to make the content relatable. I love being able to make connections with my students and bring a source of positivity into their day. We never know what students are dealing with when they’re not at school, and if I can provide a place where they feel safe, cared for, and encouraged to learn, then I will have accomplished my goal as their teacher.
