I was inspired by a teacher in high school who helped me realize I was a great writer. She kept my work, and used it as an exemplar for future students. When I didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life, she told me to take one writing and “see if I liked it.” Now, I have a Master’s degree in Composition and Rhetoric and I love teaching all aspects of writing.

I work hard to instill passion in my students, and I think part of that is showing my them I love what I’m doing. I teach intervention, so sometimes it is hard for them to see the end goal, but we spend time developing their reading and math skills and focusing on how those skills will translate to the real world. My students know I respect them and I earn their respect. We work hard to learn about each other and that helps us build community.
