When I was a senior in high school, I had the opportunity to tutor another student who was at risk of not graduating unless he passed his math class. When my fellow classmate walked across the stage, I was proud, knowing I had a part in his success. It was in that moment, I knew what I wanted to be a teacher. And now, 21 years into the profession, hearing successes from my former students is what continues to motivate me.
