Why I Teach
My “why” is to inspire genuine curiosity in the natural world and to equip students with the skills necessary to think critically and solve problems. Achievement is about making sure students leave the classroom with the knowledge and the mindset to successfully navigate and shape their future endeavors. We must never stop learning!
My path into education wasn’t just a choice; it was an inheritance. My mother and all six of her siblings were educators, creating an inherent classroom in my family life. Growing up, I was taught by two of my aunts, and their commitment to their students made a profound impression on me. I didn’t just admire their work—I lived it, seeing firsthand the dedication and passion required. This familial legacy instilled in me the fundamental belief that teaching is a noble and essential craft.
That deep-rooted belief continues to drive my passion today. I see education as an active journey of continuous professional development. My greatest motivation is my own insatiable desire to learn; I believe an educator must always be a scholar first. This means I constantly seek new methodologies, technologies, and opportunities to refine my practice, ensuring I always bring the best, most current approach into the classroom. My commitment to growth is simply a continuation of the legacy I was raised in.
