Why I Teach
As a teacher, I believe every child deserves to see themselves and the world clearly. Children need mirrors that reflect their own experiences, so they feel seen, valued, and understood. At the same time, they need windows that reveal the diversity of the world around them so they can grow in empathy, curiosity, and understanding.
In my classroom, I strive to be both: a mirror that affirms and celebrates each child’s identity, and a window that opens doors to new perspectives, ideas, and experiences. Teaching is not just about imparting knowledge; it’s about guiding children to understand who they are and who they can become in a diverse, ever-changing world. This is why I teach. Because every child deserves to see themselves and the world with clarity, confidence, and hope.
I teach because every child deserves to be seen, heard, and understood. My passion comes from those moments when a student discovers something new about themselves or the world when curiosity turns into understanding, and confidence begins to grow.
Teaching is about more than academics; it’s about affirming each child’s identity, celebrating their uniqueness, and opening windows to the diverse world around them. I teach because I believe every child has the potential to shine, and I want to help light the path for them to do so.
