Why I Teach
In middle school, I had a deaf classmate who changed the way I saw the world, and ultimately, my purpose. Watching how she navigated every barrier with patience, humor, and determination taught me that learning isn’t one-size-fits-all. I saw firsthand how powerful it can be when teachers truly see their students, not just their abilities or limitations, but their stories, strengths, and voices. That experience sparked a desire to make education more inclusive, empathetic, and empowering for every student who walks into my classroom. What continues to drive my passion is knowing that teaching gives me the chance to do for others what that classmate unknowingly did for me: create a space where every learner feels they belong, no matter what challenges they face.
