Where do you teach? Owensboro High School

What subject(s)/grade(s) do you teach? Math

How many years have you taught? 9

Why did you become a teacher? I knew I wanted to be a teacher from the time I was a middle school student. The relationships I had with several special teachers were extremely impactful in shaping my career goals, and I became a teacher so I could have that same impact on future generations. For me, teaching has never been solely about the content, but about the way students feel in my classroom. I became a teacher simply because I care about kids, and as a high school teacher, I get to be a central part of their lives before they spread their wings and fly!

What has been the best part of teaching that you didn’t expect when entering the profession? The best part of teaching is when a student tells you how much you mean to them, and even when you feel like you did not make an impact, you really did.

What do you consider your greatest accomplishment as a teacher? I don’t have a “greatest accomplishment,” but rather daily small accomplishments that make a great difference in the lives of kids. Just seeing my students thrive and become successful is worth it all.

Favorite thing to do when you aren’t teaching? I enjoy spending time with my family, being active in my church, crafting, and traveling/trying new restaurants.

If you could have a superpower, what would it be? I would love to be able to teleport to anywhere in the world! I have been on trips to several different countries and made friends all over the world, and it would be wonderful to be able to visit them anytime I wanted.
