Why did you become a teacher? I have always loved working with kids and helping other. Originally, I did not set out to be a teacher. My background is in agriculture. When I graduated from UK, I struggled to find a job. I knew about Option 6 and found a Special Education position.
What has been the best part of teaching that you didn’t expect when entering the profession? The best part of teaching that I didn’t expect was the connections and relationships I have built with families through the years.
What is one thing you wish non-teachers knew about what you do? Teaching is as much about building relationships as teaching content.
What do you consider your greatest accomplishment as a teacher? My greatest accomplishment is being able to help students overcome their personal barriers and graduate.
What is your favorite thing to do when you aren’t teaching? I love to travel.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go? Kentucky has been home my entire life. I’d like to visit all 120 counties and learn more about our State.
