Why did you become a teacher? I chose to become a teacher because of the opportunity to positively impact the lives of children.

What has been the best part of teaching that you didn’t expect when entering the profession? The best part of teaching that I didn’t expect when entering this profession is having former students come back to visit with me and share stories, ask for my advice, share their recognitions and accomplishments, and sometimes just say hello and give me a hug.

What is one thing you wish non-teachers knew about what you do? One thing I wish non-teachers knew about what I do is that I am a lifelong learner. I learn from fellow educators as well as from my students which helps to keep things new and exciting in my classroom.

What do you consider your greatest accomplishment as a teacher? My greatest accomplishment as a teacher is focusing on what is best for my students and seeing positive rewards for them.

Favorite thing to do when you aren’t teaching? My favorite thing to do when I’m not teaching is spending time with my family. We like attending sporting events, taking trips to the lake, and having movie and game nights.

If you could have a superpower, what would it be? If I could have a superpower it would be to read minds because I could learn how every student comprehends different materials using different teaching methods.
