Why did you become a teacher? I became a teacher to help our next generations of leaders develop to their full potential.
What has been the best part of teaching that you didn’t expect when entering the profession? The best part of teaching that I didn’t expect when I entered the profession is the bond that is created with our colleagues. Our fellow teachers really feel like family.
What is one thing you wish non-teachers knew about what you do? I wish non-teachers knew that this job is not the 7-3, summers off job that it presents itself as. I wish they knew how much their kids begin to feel like our kids, too. I wish they knew that I’m not just teaching them Science, but I’m working with them every day to help them grow as people, too.
What do you consider your greatest accomplishment as a teacher? I think my greatest accomplishment as a teacher so far has been building lasting relationships with my students. It’s so rewarding to see my former students moving on and accomplishing their personal goals and having them stop in to update me on their progress means everything to me.
What is your favorite thing to do when you aren’t teaching? When I’m not teaching, I love reading for fun, spending time with my husband and daughter, and playing and listening to music.
If you could have a superpower, what would it be? If I could have any superpower at all, it would be the ability to teleport. I would love to instantly transport myself across the globe. You could see the world for free!
